Shiho-kuo in ITALICS

Valskian in BOLD

If two parts are sung at once, they are in brackets

When you hear the whistle, sing and dance, Harvest

gén uisaara amai kokodi, neka ma kabaro, HAAVEST

(Time whistle you hear, sing and dance, HARVEST.)

The wind lightly runs through the trees, swaying the hair

ma furuta dathe ma ibori garéta shima, ma ethi touro

(The wind through the tree light+ly flow, the hair sway)

The earth that will die down someday leaves seeds and waits for the winter

Wirekvolwolt ol vaīre eik varē dezerik un eik tarit var Virīs

(Die+FUTURE+world one day it leaves seed+PLURAL and it wait for Winter)

As neverending time passes by, it will bloom flowers with the spring rain

Wēr neipīstvaīkir kutīn savak, eik vol torvāta svaīrik mīs Savēirrīn

(As not+end+time pass along, it FUTURE bloom flower+PLURAL with Spring+rain)

I gently stretched out my hand, lured by the scent that brings memories

ketto né umi garéta toba, isk berīl kēil bīrok eik trīn kiōstīk

(Me POSESSIVE hand stretch out,) (PAST lure with smell it brings memory+PLURAL)

The coldness I felt on my cheeks will vanish and disappear someday/to the air

Ma okotén ketto ne nakati ayo, [gimita ma da-gimita ku-mii hibi - eik vol vēresk un eik vol kōvosa na eik frīst]

(The cold+NESS I POSESSIVE cheek feel, [vanish+FUTURE and vanish+FUTURE one+NUMBER-SUFFIX day - it FUTURE vanish and it FUTURE disappear to the air])

The memories that I've completely forgotten even vividly fade away
What will the sky think of to see the dying soil

Died flowers leaves seeds and lies on the earth
The wind lightly will blow the seeds and take a path in the sky

When you hear the sound of the bells, let the song ring, Requiem
The sky is clear without clouds and warps the earth

Flowers fall and return to the soil without a word by now
This a harvest to be dedicated to flowers that are gone with the wind and pass away

I gently stretched out my hand, lured by the scent that brings back memories
The warmth I felt on my cheeks will never vanish and disappear

If the memories that I've completely forgotten would come back
I would have wished, prayed and dreamed so many times

On the earth that will die down someday, I lived with you
I thought of you, I wanted you, I loved you and I...

If my body decays and returns to the soil someday
I want to bear fruit like flowers bloom in a wilderness

The wind lightly blow the seeds and goes around above the earth and the sea
And again I'll meet you and bloom a flower, Harvest

English from [link]

I wrote the gloss the way that I use for translation, so I'm sorry if you don't get it orz And yes, Shiho-kuo has number suffixes. They show the end of a number. It's in Base 6, so if you wanted to write 15, you'd write Shina-mii (Shi-na-mii; 2-3-number).

I want to do a self-duet of this, and I felt like translating something, so I thought, "Why not?"
And damn, the Valskian part is hard to sing...

If you have any questions, feel free to ask c:

EDIT: Just so you know, this is written in West/Standard Valskian (they're the same thing, just 2 different names). East Valskian deals with double vowels differently, and the pronunciation is slightly different.
For example, in this piece, "Kīostīk" would be written as "Kīostiik" in East Valskian. ("Kīosti" is memory and "ik" pluralizes.)
Also, the pronunciation difference is that while in West Valskian "W" and "V" are pronounced the same way (like an English "V"), In East Valskian "V" is like "V" but "W" is a voiced bilabial fricative, like the "W" in Dutch (according to Wikipedia... Which is often wrong. Correct me if that's wrong, please. orz)

There's a version here [link] with the translation removed, and the Valskian slightly edited to make it easier to pronounce. Mostly for personal purposes, but uploaded it just in case anyone's curious.

Mood: Confused ~Waahlis Oct 24, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
Writing IPA in my sketchbooks makes it look a bit... weird... Also, I tend to loose 'em...

Well - ranting is good! Just look at the Conlanger's Rant! :D I've been conlanging since about 2005-6, but then my language just came out of the kitchen sink/Esperantido swamp in about 2009... Not that you asked :( - so I can rant as well. I've never made a cypher though. I had a friend who did it, and I thought it was weird... By some reason, he thinks creating languages is even worse. Odd, isn't it?

I came to deviant just a month ago, really excited, only to find that most people are inactive... :( Yeah, very well, I like the text! :D

Really quite excellent! I like the aesthetics of the language! Valskian, was it?

There are two languages in this translation - Valskian and Shiho-kuo. Valskian is based on German and Russian sounds with several loanwords, and Shiho-kuo is based on Japanese sounds with slight extensions (th, ll, dh, e) but all the words are entirely original c:

If you were commenting that you liked Valskian, than thanks! I'm glad to hear that someone other than my close friends IRL like it. :D

Oh, I ilke both of 'em, thing is that the Valskian language is a bit more... Prominent! :P I must ask though, do you have the IPA for them both?

You should be glad your friends even comment on your languages - mine just look at me, look at my languages, look at me again, and give a small giggle... :/ Been conlanging long? :)

I have the IPA for Shiho-kuo somewhere in one of my sketchbooks, but it's definitely outdated and needs to be re-done (it's changed quite a lot). As for Valskian... Nope, no IPA yet. Gotta do that.

Been conlanging since April. Well, actually since 2007, but I only got into actual good language stuff with rules and whatnot since April. I made a pointless letter cypher in around 2007 which I counted since I said "GUYS THIS IS MY SECRET LANGUAGE" (I was weirder back then), and in 2011 for a school project (this wasn't part of the assigned work BTW) I made a cypher of English. The concept behind some of the words was pretty good, but it sounded like a mishmash of broken English and badly pronounced Japanese. Not to mention a few words were just inside jokes, like "Bushar". The one word that sticks out in my mind is "Poki-dzeki", which was pronounced "Pokey-dizzy-key". =.=

...God, I can rant.
